Survey: 91% Americans Use Mobiles

According to the semiannual US wireless industry survey, there are over 285 million American mobile subscribers. That is approximately 91% of the total population who use their mobile phones for an average of 21 minutes per day, per person.

The survey revealed that Americans sent more than 1.5 trillion text messages in 2009, roughly 5 billion per day. AT & T Mobility CEO Ralph de la Vega said US is at the top in numerous categories like number of 3G subscribers, number of smartphones activated and number of mobile apps purchased. The revenue from wireless data services in the latter half of 2009 was more than $22 billion.
