Report: Apple to Launch Two New iPhones

A report from the Wall Street Journal suggests that there will be two iPhones released this year. While one would be based on GSM/UMTS standard from AT&T, the other would be compatible with CDMA, the standard used by Verizon. The announcement would be made in June or July.

Two different manufacturers will make the two different iPhones. Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., which has developed the previous three versions, will develop the GSM model, while Pegatron Technology Corp., a subsidiary of ASUSTeK, will build the CDMA version. If the report is true, it means that AT&T will no longer have exclusivity with Apple.
