At the DrupalCon conference in San Francisco, Microsoft announced the launch of its new SQL Server Driver for PHP 2.0 and has PDO support. While the server is still in a CTP stage, it will run Drupal 7.
When giving the keynote speech, Dries Buytaert said that the main reason for this is Microsoft’s wish to run Drupal 7 in its Windows setting. Drupal has been, till now, a part of Linux and Open Source. However, Microsoft’s entry will bring in more developers for Drupal.
