Microsoft is all set to launch Silverlight 4, within a year of launch of its previous version.
With the new version, you can run applications out of the browser, for instance, you can run it on the desktop or a mobile device. This will serve as a key factor in the development apps for Windows Phone 7 with Microsoft Silverlight as the platform.
This will give enhanced visibility to Silverlight on smart phones, DVDs and television set-top boxes. Microsoft claims that cable boxes using Silverlight will provide faster menus and can incorporate games.
Developers can use Visual Studio 2010(recently launched by Microsoft) and Expression Blend 4 to build Silverlight apps.
