Joomla Project Launches Joomla 1.6 Beta

Joomla Project debuts Joomla 1.6 Beta, which is architected to offer improvised site control and a sophisticated user experience.  Joomla 1.6 is claimed to offer a plethora of new tools for advanced website access and management. It also promises a more robust organizational structure for content control, and various other user-experience enhancements.

Here is a list of a few key features that will be included in Joomla 1.6:

Enhanced Depth Organizational Model – Provides site administrators and content creators user-defined category levels that allow for the creation of a personalized category tree with as many levels as required.
Semantic XHTML Layouts – Offers a better content presentation baseline.
Advanced Access Control System – Permits site administrators to have complete control over who can view and manage content.
One-Click Extension Updates – Permits users to maintain site security by simplifying the process of updating extensions.

Besides these upgrades, developers and implementers can enjoy the new ability Joomla 1.6 offers in allowing extensions to be built with granular control and permissions. This feature will make it simpler to design improved enterprise-centric applications and extensions for Joomla. The development process is expected to get more iterative with a time-based release cycle in the new version.
