It was recently reported that Kindle continues to be the undisputed leader in the online availability of books, adding 500,000 more e-books to their collection. Their sales have soared up from 4.8 billion dollars in the first quarter of 2009 to 7.13 billion in the first quarter of 2010, which is around 46% more sales.
The share value also increased from 0.41 dollar per diluted share in the first quarter of 2009, to the present 0.66 dollar figure per share in the first quarter of 2010.
It is quite clear that Amazon is promoting the Kindle as one of its premier products, responding to stern competition from Apple’s iPad. It has also released its own iPad application to compete with the iBooks.
Recently, Amazon has even announced about Kindle’s availability in Specific stores. Amazon’s aim as declared by their CFO, Tom Szkutak is to be able to make available in the Kindle, every book ever published, and that too in every language.
